Choosing the right replacement cartridge for your pool or spa filter is important for proper fit and filtration performance. If you already know the filter model or part number, finding a replacement is usually simple. If you don’t, you can identify the correct cartridge by checking the dimensions and features of your existing filter.
Already Know the Filter Model or Part Number?
If you already have the filter cartridge part number, model number, or replacement number, you can enter it directly into the search bar on our dedicated pool and spa filter page to find compatible replacement cartridges.
You can search by the original manufacturer’s part number or a compatible replacement number to narrow down the results.
Don’t Know the Part Number? Measure Your Existing Cartridge
If you cannot find the part number, don’t worry. You can identify a suitable replacement by measuring your current cartridge.
I. Measure the Outside Diameter
Measure the cartridge’s outside diameter (OD) across the widest part of the filter.
For the most accurate results, measure to within ±1/16 inch.
II. Measure the Cartridge Length
Measure the overall length from one end cap to the other.
Do not include protruding handles, extensions, or other parts that extend beyond the end caps. Try to measure within ±1/16 inch.
III. Check the Top and Bottom
Look at both ends of the cartridge and determine whether they are open or closed.
If an end is open, measure the inside diameter (ID) of the opening to within ±1/16 inch.
If an end is closed, note any distinctive features, such as a handle, cone, or other fitting.
IV. Check the Filter Manufacturer and Model
If possible, find the manufacturer and model number of the pool or spa filter housing where the cartridge is installed.
This information can help narrow down compatible replacement cartridges, especially when several cartridges have similar dimensions.
V. Check for a Central Core
Look through the cartridge to see whether it has a central core, such as a PVC tube.
Note whether the cartridge has a center core and, if possible, record its approximate diameter. This can help further confirm compatibility.
What Information Should You Record?
Before searching for a replacement, it’s helpful to have the following information:
- Cartridge outside diameter
- Cartridge length
- Top opening diameter or end-cap type
- Bottom opening diameter or end-cap type
- Manufacturer and model number
- Whether the cartridge has a central core
The more accurate your measurements are, the easier it is to identify the correct replacement.
Search by Model or Size
Once you have the information, visit our pool and spa filter cartridge page and use the search function to find a compatible replacement.
If you know the model or part number, search for that first. If you don’t, use the dimensions and end-cap configuration of your existing cartridge to compare available options.
Still Not Sure? Send Us a Photo
Sometimes a cartridge can be difficult to identify from measurements alone, especially when several models have very similar dimensions.
If you still cannot determine which replacement cartridge you need, contact our customer service team and send us clear photos of your existing cartridge and filter housing. If available, include a photo of any model number or label on the filter.
Our team can use the information you provide to help you find a suitable replacement.
POOLPURE Pool and Spa Replacement Filters
If you’re looking for a replacement cartridge for your pool or spa, POOLPURE pool and spa filters are designed to provide reliable filtration for everyday pool maintenance. The filters are tested and certified by IAPMO against NSF/ANSI 50 standards for material safety.
POOLPURE uses an innovative trilobal fiber structure that provides up to three times the adsorption surface area of conventional filter fabrics. The larger surface area helps capture dirt and sediment while maintaining consistent filtration performance during regular use.
The filters also feature Patented Dirt-Locking Technology, which helps hold captured debris in the filter media during filtration while allowing dirt to be released more easily during rinsing. This makes the cartridges easier to clean and reuse, helping reduce maintenance time and replacement costs.
Choose the Right POOLPURE Filter Series
POOLPURE offers three filter media options for different pool and spa maintenance needs:
White · Standard Filter Media
Designed for everyday filtration of dirt, debris, and sediment using POOLPURE trilobal filter fabric.
Blue · Antimicrobial Filter Media
Features antimicrobial protection to help inhibit bacteria and mold growth on the filter media.
Green · Biodegradable Filter Media
Uses plant-based PLA filter media designed to biodegrade under industrial composting conditions, providing an alternative for customers looking for a more environmentally conscious filter option.
When choosing a POOLPURE replacement cartridge, first confirm the model number or replacement number. If you don’t know the model, use the dimensions and end-cap information from your existing cartridge to find a compatible option.
Conclusion
Finding the right replacement cartridge doesn’t have to be difficult. Start with the part number or model number if you have it. If not, measure the cartridge’s diameter and length, check the end-cap configuration, and note the filter housing details. If you’re still unsure, simply send us a photo and contact our customer service team for help.
